White helmets with orange paw

May 1, 2015, 4:34 PM

anyone ?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NO !!!!!

May 1, 2015, 4:39 PM

There is a Strategic Advantage with wearing ORANGE helmets

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And what is that?

May 1, 2015, 4:56 PM

And before you get all hyped about..."messing with tradition"

Folks over 55 might tell you, we messed with tradition by adding the paw.

Correct, but the previous helmets were terrible & the PAW is classic.

It it ain’t broke don’t fix it

if you have to ask
you would not understand the Explanation

But I'm going to try
The QB can locate an open WR-TE-RB quicker
why do you think hunters have to wear ORANGE
why are Off Shore Life Jackets ORANGE
and there are many more
"High Visibility Orange"

Try this maybe you will see for yourself
take anything about the size of a helmet
a milk jug works good
with 2 paint 1 Orange 1 White
in a parking lot,,the woods, open yard
sit them on the ground,,on anything about eye level
or use a string to suspend them about 6ft apart
walk 60 to 100 ft away
close your eyes count 1-2-3-4 turn around then open your eyes
look in the area of the jugs
Which 1 did you see 1st

I'm surprised there are as many coaches as there are allowing multiple uniform/helmet combos.

May 2, 2015, 7:21 AM

You would think that having a consistent helmet color would aid players in identifying one another, thus increasing (speeding up) reaction times.

I'll buy that explanation , but that would rule out every color but orange or red ?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I seriously doubt that. The QBs practice these plays

May 2, 2015, 7:48 AM [ in reply to Re: And what is that? ]

so much that they don't look for a WR, they look to the spot where the WR is supposed to be on the route in that exact moment in time, and i doubt it's very hard to see if he's there or not.

On the road, when the other team's helmets aren't white ?

May 1, 2015, 4:44 PM

SURE

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This^^^^^said it for years.....

May 1, 2015, 4:48 PM

If we make any changes to the helmet, I'd just do the inverse of what we have now with a white helmet and orange paw. Maybe for the military appreciation do a purple helmet with an orange paw, and two orange stripes with a white stripe in the middle. Basically keeping the same helmet design just changing the paw color/stripes depending on the shell color.

I'm all for something a little different 1-2 times per year, my only thing is always use some combo of orange/white/purple. It's a huge pet peeve of mine when teams start throwing in black or gray or chrome or whatever when those colors aren't even a school color.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes on this, no on chrome.***

That's the worst one.

May 1, 2015, 4:47 PM

Which is sort of the point of the post I assume.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And you're probably one of these.....

May 1, 2015, 4:47 PM

guys who would want to wear it with an all-purple uniform.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rather have a chrome paw helmet...definitely no.***

Re: This warrants legitimate discussion***

May 1, 2015, 5:50 PM

Just looking on the Tigernet News picture of Saint Anthony hitting FSU qb, it looks like a white helmet . I never really considered it before , but it looks pretty dadgum good .

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the only change I would like

May 1, 2015, 6:04 PM

and it should only be used for a huge game with national implications where we are wearing our road whites for the "Storm Trooper" look.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: That's the only change I would like

May 1, 2015, 7:10 PM

Yeah . This is getting better all the time for huge road games , something like when the orange pants were introduced to scarliner .

May 2, 2015, 1:33 AM

my handy work. I tried to pull this off in PS JUST to see what it'd look like...the all white doesn't look bad to me at all. Gotta have the dreads though...can we put that on all the helmets?

Re: Anytime this topic is brought up, I feel compelled to post

May 2, 2015, 4:07 AM

Pretty good work there . I like it better than chrome by a mile .

Love it!***

And makes me want to see the occasional white helmet make the field even more now. Probably the best illustrated version of it I've seen. Nice!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

orange helmuts with purple tiger paws like tracks

May 2, 2015, 7:37 AM

walking down the side! Shiny too! Don't forget shiny!

I really like them for ONE game. It's not going to happen
