Mine came in November 1964. I still remember making the 100 yards from our mailbox to the front door in about Spiller-speed.

I would advise everyone to try to not get too disheartened if they don't get in. There is always the transfer route. My grades out of high school were so bad that I didn't even apply to Clemson for my freshman year. I did a year at a smaller school, got good grades, and got in to Clemson to start my sophomore year.

Funny that this post came up today. I was telling someone the story of when I got my acceptance letter back in the fall of 96.

I got home and my father handed me the envelope. I was so nervous to open it and see what was inside. I finally did and after reading the first sentence I was so happy and relived. My father was laughing at me the whole time. I hadn't noticed that the envelope said something like "congratulations" or "welcome to Clemson" right under the return address!

My folks were, perhaps, more excited than I: they dashed right out, bought a two-bit piece of luggage, quickly tossed in some of my clothes, gave me two dollars, and said: "Don't call us...we'll call you!" I was chagrinned. LOL
