Anyone here old enough to remember..

Ray Nitschke of the Packers and Butkus of the Bears? Ben Boulware reminds me of them. He just throws himself into the play. Guts.

If he had the eyes of Mike Singletary (Bears), offenses should be skeered.

But yes - I remember those guys you mentioned (mostly Butkus). I liked Singletary the most of all - those eyes let you know your ### was his.

If we're going to do comparisons, I'd like to say Kearse reminds me of George Webster, who played at Westside in Anderson, Michigan St, and the Houston Oilers. Couldn't play at Clemson because of segregation so Coach Howard referred him to Duffy Daugherty. Fastest linebacker I've ever seen and about the size of our current safety.

George Webster was the best player ever from the state of South Carolina and would be in the Pro HOF if he hadn't torn up a knee. He is on the all time AFC team. Not many realize that he was selected as the best college defensive player of the 1960s. #### Butkus was second.

Coach Howard once told him, "George, you are the best player I've ever seen. Your only fault is that you were born a few years too soon to play at Clemson."

George's father worked at the JP Stevens Appleton Plant in Anderson, and he was much bigger than George. I had a summer job in that plant and worked there part time during my senior year at Clemson.
