Anyone else surprised the ACC hasn't made an official statement

On Gallman's missed targeting penalty? I was expecting at least some statement either way - and hopefully leaning toward a one game suspension for the officiating crew and official review team.

It's high time the ACC approved 'The Swofford Rule' - stating that the ACC cannot be led by a partisan party formally affiliated with another ACC school - so in part to remove any implicit bias which may affect player safety, game results, and the official's calls.

It actually was targeting by rule
Oct 17, 2016, 12:30 PM
|
|
It wasn't targeting a defenseless player, but it was targeting by rule (forcible contact to the head/neck area by the crown of a defender's helmet)

Its okay Uttles was also trying to argue that we only play one tough conference game a year and that the ACC was weak.

They did. You didn't see this yesterday?

Sunday Oct. 16, 2016. ACC Office, Greensboro, NC FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Commisioner John Swofford today announced the league office response to the play in yesterday's Clemson vs NC State game in which Clemson's Wayne Gallman sustained a concussion. Here is the Commisioner's statement:
"Clemson's Wayne Gallman sustained a concussion yesterday on a tackle by an NC State player that clearly was a textbook instance of targeting. Unfortunately this violation was not called by the on field officiating crew nor the replay official in the booth. The conference takes situations like these, that could impact player safety and the integrity of our games very seriously. As a result of the failure of the officiating crew and replay official to adequately discharge their duties in this case, the conference has taken the following action. In the Jan. 3 basketball game between Clemson and the University of North Carolina, Clemson's Jaron Blossomgame will be assessed two personal fouls to start the game. It is our hope that this swift decisive action will serve to remind our officials of the standard of excellence we demand."

However you see it, targeting or not, if Ben Boulware came off his feet and launched himself like a missile at Dayes' head... not only would he have been ejected but the media would've spun it like a wheel & he probably would have been suspended for multiple games thereafter.
I'm all for the game staying raw and tough but let's at least keep it consistent. The Wolfpack was headhunting all afternoon long like it was the last game of the year for them.

Why make a statement for one missed call?
Oct 17, 2016, 2:21 PM
|
|
The Miami-Duke statement highlighted a cluster of errors that clearly impacted the final score. This was one missed call that most didn't know was targeting in real time.
A lot of uproar for no reason.
