Anybody else wish we would run the ball on 3rd down?

As a team, we average 7.2 yards per carry. Our four RB averages are 9.2, 7.9, 5.1 and 11 ypc. I would NOT be upset to see us run some draws or off tackle stuff on 3rd and 5 or shorter. About the only bad thing about the Wake game were our 3rd down numbers and we're tied for 56th in the nation for 3rd down conversion percentage on the season. With TL and three wide they'll respect the pass, which should open things right on up for ETN and crew.

Let’s take away all the touchdowns we’ve scored off of big plays while we’re at it. If we did I’m sure we would have two or three losses by now. Come on man. You do realize that a lot of those short plays that don’t seem to accomplish much often set up the big plays right?

an average running play before we run on 3rd and 5. You aren't going to break for 70 yards on every play. I'm only talking about the 3rd down scenario.

True. Of course if the defense is expecting pass then it could result in a huge conversion for us which is what I think the OP is getting at. We have a tendency to pass. It would be nice to see a run if it catches the defense off guard.

My guess is the key to 3rd down conversion is predicated on getting good yardage on 1st & 2nd. There is a world of difference between 3rd and 7 vs 3rd and 2

I'd just like for SCElliot to stop calling for a 20+ yard pass play with a low completion percentage.When all we need is 4yards.
