As I recall he was thoguht headed to Okla and turned to Clemson at signing time. I dont think BV had joined Clemson then either. I always liked him. He was a nice player but left early as I recall.

4* who never really panned out. Seems like there was some drama with Oklahoma during recruiting. This article doesn't say it, but he also left the spring of '07.

Clay committed to Clemson very late one night, near midnight, and only about a half dozen of us were still on Tigernet. He was a real talent but never recovered emotionally from his sister's death.

His sister died in a car crash ...and I don't think he ever really recovered.

mentally, he never recovered from that event and withdrew from school... in a lot of respects, Roscoe Crosby endured the same kind of psychological trauma when his friends died driving his car to see him in Florida with the minor league baseball team...

Didn't know about his sister dying. That's rough I had him as a facebook "friend" because as an 18 year old in 2006, I added all the football players I could because that seemed logical for some reason. There were a couple of years where he was trying to convince everybody he was playing for like 3 different NFL teams. He would post stats that were clearly from a Madden game where he had created himself, and would talk about how he had made the roster for the Cowboys and/or Jets. Really weird stuff. Weirdest part was that some people (apparently lacking the ability to Google) actually believed him.
