If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

JP Stevens rd is now called the "Fishin Hole". Is it still open?

Before we moved up there we were randomly driving around looking at houses and stopped in when it was Bountyland, and was surprised to see Westbrook beer in there for sale.

As far as I know the Fishin Hole is still open.

Jun 29, 2020, 10:42 AM

Haven't been in in a while tho...

Older building is still open and caters to fishers

They lease the building from Bountyland. 1 caveat in the

Jun 29, 2020, 10:44 AM

lease is they can't sell beer because Bountyland doesn't want to compete with them.

TRUE FACT:

Jun 29, 2020, 10:56 AM [ in reply to TIL that the Bountyland that used to be on ]

RH Tig worked at the Fishin' Hole back in the early 80s.

Jun 29, 2020, 10:58 AM

It might be easier for you to list the places in Clemson you DIDN'T work at in the 80's...

;)

Back then the "fishin hole" was on Shiloh Rd, right?

Jun 29, 2020, 12:21 PM [ in reply to TRUE FACT: ]

It looks to be back open, at least in this Google pic. When I was last at the amrina, it was vacant and had a big hole in the roof.

Correct.

Jun 29, 2020, 3:26 PM

I stopped by there about 5 or 6 years ago to see if my friend still owned it, but he had sold it. I haven't been past it since, but it was open then. We used to cash paychecks for JP Stevens workers back then, and I would watch guys spend an entire paycheck playing the poker machines.

I worked at JP Stevens for a bit

packing sheets in boxes. I was a sheet packer.

everybody needs help from time to time.....

Jun 29, 2020, 10:46 AM

reminds me of something that happened when I worked on a golf course long ago.

It had been raining for about a week straight from a trop storm/hurricane, ground was completely saturated.
Out on a peninsula by the lake, a worker bogged down a Gator (basically an oversized golf cart).
Took the diesel pickup out to pull it out. Truck bogged down.
Took the tractor to pull it out. Tractor bogged down.
Took the big dually tractor to pull tractor out. Didn't bog down, but it couldn't do it.
Had to go find a bulldozer to pull everything out.

It was a hilarious multi-fail.

Tow trucks have live births, they don't lay eggs.
