Great defensive stat from the playoffs

Jan 31, 2017, 7:13 AM

We committed four turnovers in the playoff, two in each game. Our defense gave up a total of 20 yards, 1 first down, and 3 points on our opponents ensuing drives.

Even better, 3 of the 4 turnovers came deep within our own territory (33, 35, and 16 yard lines) with the game either tied or the Tigers trailing by 7. Our defense gave up a total of 3 yards on those 3 possessions.

That's some clutch defense.

What I like is we had two turnovers against Ohio state , and won by 31. And had two against mighty Bama and still won.
So much for who ever wins the turnover battle thing.
GO TIGERS!

Two seems to be the tipping point for us

the last couple of seasons, at least in turnover margin. I think I recall a discussion of that during one of the games -- if we didn't lose the TO battle by more than 2, we won the game.

We are something ridiculous like 11-2 over the last

two seasons in games where we have a negative turnover margin.

And when we win the TO battle we're undefeated I believe

Not only that but I think we outscore opponent by an average of something like 20+ points when we don't turn the ball over.

I guess the team takes too much after Dabo and feel we need to be generous to give the other team a fighting chance and the audience a good game. Had we not turned the ball over UL, FSU, NC ST, and Pitt would have been snoozers and over by the 3rd quarter.
