Dabo just doesn't get "IT".............

I don't think Dabo gets it about beating Carolina. I could care less if they go to the Orange, Sugar, Peach, Cotton, or Rose bowl or if they are playing for the BCS NC. I personally would rather see Clemson 6-5 or 7-4, even with loses to Wofford, Citadel, or PC, than lose the Carolina game. I don't think the coaches or players care. Their focus is going 11-2 or 12-1 and what bowl game they play. Not me. Give me 7 to 8 wins and let one be against the Gamecocks and I'm happy. Money has taken the place of pride in college athletics; sad.

Pride is in carrying on and accomplishing the things still possible not dwelling on the past.

He didn't make a habit of beating FSU. He went 4-5 against them. His only real notable accomplishment being a road win in 2006 when FSU finished unranked, 7-6 overall, and 3-5 in ACC play.
And since you have the distorted perception that Tommy had a habit of beating FSU, I'll point out he started 1-4 against them and closed 3-1. If you're keeping score at home 1-4 is Dabo's record against Carolina so in another 4 years he very well may be your favorite coach since Tommy Bowden.

So, just for the sake of argument, let's say he goes 11-1 in the regular season next year. He will likely have played 3 top ten teams - Georgia, FSU and Carolina. If we beats two of them but the loss is to Carolina then he should be fired? I say if he loses once Spurrier resigns then yes, it is time to evaluate things, but if you're being objective Spurrier has all the advantages right now.

and missed the point entirely. It's not that I want Clemson to ever lose. It's the demise of the importance of beating our rival by people who did not grow up with it that concerns me. That's all.

and the rivalry game being at the end of the season. No way to recover from a loss if you have BCS aspirations. Look at UGA. They lost in Columbia back in October and they have a chance to play in the BCS NC game.

frustrated as anyone in here about this. I was a year ago with 3 in a row. It is even worse now.
I haven't directly expressed my unhappiness to the man personally but I suspect many other have over the last few years. I'm sure he and all the coaches catch it at meetings and when traveling. He will turn it around or go the way of John Cooper who couldnt beat his rival either but to say he doesnt get it is just not right. I'm sure he gets it and is reminded many times each day

You think Dabo doesn't get it? Sorry, but I think maybe you don't get it. I'll take 10 win seasons and conference championships anytime vs a win over a 5th place SEC team. We would all like to beat the yard chickens, but our goals are much bigger than them. Just ask Spurrier if he would rather have a conference title or a win over Clemson. He would give back all four wins for 1 conference crown.

I have sometimes wondered if the regional rivalries matter as much to the players as it used to. With recruiting getting more and more national, do all of the guys from Florida, Virginia, Texas, and wherever fully understand the unholiness that is the gamecocks?
