12 game season.
He's had more than 150 carries, so has plenty of sample size to pull from.
He has 19 touchdowns.
Has Clemson ever had a more reliable runningback? Is he underutilized?
Discuss.

Last night, Clemson Etiended the gamecocks season.
We've used him well. Fresh for the playoffs.

I agree he is fresh and not over used. They have subed the rb’s well and kept them ready.25-30 carries per game wears them out over a season

I think hes the best rb we have had at CU. One could easily argue hes underutilized at the moment. The opposite end of that coin is that he is able to stay fresh and healthy with less carries. The ultimate goal is to have him available for a playoff run and I have no doubt if we need him to carry the ball 50 times to win a playoff game, we would!
Also btw dont get me wrong I love CJ and he will forever by my favorite tiger of all time! I just think ETN is that special of a talent and an amazing pure rb.

while Spiller was obviously the better overall player, ETN has everything you want in a RB

I'll always wonder what he could have done with an average number of carries this season.

He was listed as a top five Heisman candidate by multiple outlets up until a couple weeks ago.
He only dropped off after a couple games where he only had like 10 touches.

IMO, Etienne is being utilized well ---not too much and not too little.
If he had been going at a 25 to 30 carries per game clip from the start, he might not have had the stamina to literally put the team on his back in the fourth quarter of the Syracuse game.

I don’t really think he’s underutilized personally. The only real game I can think of where we may have needed him to get more touches was the A&M game, and I think part of that was due to how often Bryant carried the ball.
Otherwise if you wanted to pad his stats then yes you could get him more touches, but that’s not our style. I think also his average per carry contributes to the lower number of carries as obviously it takes him less carries to get us what we need. Also, a 20 yard run may require a rest while a short 2 yard gain could result in another carry on the next play.
