An udder question: Good restaurants in Charlotte?

Nov 20, 2013, 1:28 PM

I'm trying to avoid going to Cheesecake Factory, because that is the worst place on earth. If I can convince my wife of some other place, I can make this happen. Can't be expensive, because I'm just a little poor.

Bill Spoon's BBQ.***

Nov 20, 2013, 1:30 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sounds good to me, but I think wifey would veto.

Nov 20, 2013, 1:34 PM

For some reason, she ain't much for BBQ.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sigh, womens. I guess go to Tilted Kilt then.***

Is Spoons, the hamburger joint in Charlotte

Nov 20, 2013, 1:40 PM [ in reply to Bill Spoon's BBQ.*** ]

still open? There used to be one on Hawthorne or somewhere around there, but I haven't been down that way in a long time. I think I smuggled a burger in to my dad when he was in the hospital up the street. Not sure when that was. Anyway, those were pretty good burgers.

Spoon's used to be on South Blvd back in the day

Nov 20, 2013, 4:22 PM

Pretty decent BBQ.

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think we are talking about different places

Nov 20, 2013, 9:33 PM

don't recall BBQ. Just burgers.

Yeah, you're talking about Spoon's Restaurant uptown.

Nov 20, 2013, 9:46 PM

Bill Spoon's BBQ has been on South Blvd for as long as I can remember. Never ate at Spoon's uptown, but I remember seeing the building.

LOL...that's what I was thinkin.

Nov 20, 2013, 1:31 PM

Always wanted to go there. But I'm open to other suggestions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

seriously, there is a pei wei in charlotte as well.

Nov 20, 2013, 1:36 PM

owned by the same company as PF Changs. It's a little more casual dining (order at the counter and sit and wait for them to bring it to you), but the food is really good IMO, especially for the money. My issue with PF CHANGS is that it's not that much better than Lin Garden in Pendleton. Actually, I like Lin Garden more.

Oh ok. I gotcha. Some of the other suggestions

Nov 20, 2013, 1:36 PM

Flair used to live near there and you get to see him some too, which is an added bonus. The burgers are awesome if you don't want to eat the Sushi and it really isn't god awful expensive without drinks.

Get the ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING burger.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Neat. Sushi is a no-go for us, but I'm intrigued.

We have a place in Columbia that's sushi/Mexican. I think there should be more random combo places like this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just do burgers. You don't HAVE to do sushi. It is awesome

WAY more than sushi. It is loud, filled with hipsters, and usually requires a wait, but the food is excellent.
