that Clemson has surpassed them in terms of culture, coaching, recruiting, talent, player development, and program success, and it really isn't even close. They also realize it may well be another 10+ years before the rivalry is even remotely competitive again and that Toad Ellis' phrase about "cycling-out" may be the single dumbest statement ever uttered by a uof6c fan.

Likely the Coots would have mostly folded their major football program sometime towards the middle/end of the 20thy century. Maybe, if they bothered, they would have joined the BigSouth, SoCon or if really successful, Sunbelt. They would have become the UConn of the south (afterall UCONN has like 15 Yankee conference titles) rather than the Rutgers of the South.
Give the coots credit, their meth/alcohol fueled rage moves them forward but like all unhealthy additions, it comes with regret, abuse, and despondency. They are willing to take a beating from the likes of Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee just so they can be a part of something.

arch rival? I believe there are several candidates who would love to claim us as their #1 rival.
If Clemson shut its doors tomorrow, I don't think SCAR would have a rival...unless you count The Citadel.
