Favorite Offensive Plays Clemson doesn't use anymore..

Nov 7, 2019, 10:28 AM

I was watching some older highlights and I miss the old Fullback up the middle with guys like Jeff McCall or the CJ Spiller Wheel route..

What are some of the old plays you liked that we don't use anymore?

If we had that #2 from BC we could do that with him and
ETN in the backfield together Even with Him and Dixon.

I don't understand the thought that our current coaches don't use the wheel play.

CJ Fuller scored multiple TDs on the wheel during his time.

Feaster scored a TD on it.

We have had a back run the route a few times this year but haven't thrown it.

It's something you use to catch people off guard. It's not a route you run multiple times per game.

We still have it in the playbook and we pick our spots with throwing it.

In his HS film Chez Melusi displayed a lot of good catches on swing passes and short middle stuff .

this fall, Michel Dukes. He was showing a great ability to be a pass catcher out of the backfield.

Wheel route will show up at right time. It did last year a few times late, although we missed one with an errant pass.

We're not showing all the playbook on purpose. We don't need that gimickry to win on a weekly basis so why show it? That's the OCs logic. We will burn someone at the right time with it more likely than not.

Jet Sweep and TE Corner route. Can't wait till Galloway returns.

Anything called by the mad scientist rob spence... preferably the use of 3 straight bubble screens.

Don’t forget Mike Eppley between Jordan & Williams. IMO, Eppley ran the option as well, or better than either, but didn’t get the recognition due to the 3 years probation during his years.

We still run the triple option, but now our third option is to throw the ball instead making a pitch to a second RB.

Rodney Williams sets them down in the i......

Nov 7, 2019, 11:01 AM

he fakes the give to the fullback, its an option right. But no, he drops back to pass and hits the tight end from the backside on a post.

I have always enjoyed seeing the “big boy package” on short yardage situations. Especially in the red zone. There certainly is enough athletic big guys to make this work 99% of the time. I bet we will see it again soon.

Ken Hatfield's triple option.

Think of what could happen if your TO could actually have a TL level passer!

OK, ok... so not overly serious... except when we play GT. We should do it out of spite.
