Is this a rhetorical question?

Considering our 2018 team is the "Best Ever", the answer seems obvious.

I would give the nod to clemson 18. I have them #3 and FSU 13 #5 in my ranking of teams in my life (1978-).

Awesome team. They were fearless and put a lot of guys in the league. Vince Young was just unstoppable and one of my favorite players to watch. That championship game was the best game I have ever seen and best individual performance on that stage.

I think that you have to first compare who you believe is the best team, to who they played against and beat. The 2018 Bama team was believed to be the best team that Bama has ever fielded bc they were equally at their best on offense and defense. That was until they ran head first into a Clemson team that was probably just a little less talented according to player to player star power statistics, but Clemson was better prepared and better coached. And the best team that Bama has ever had equally of both sides of the ball got annihilated by the best team on both sides of the ball as Clemson has had!!!! Note, the statement at the end of the definition, I'm changing to, (Our Clemson Tiger FB team annihilated the best ever Bama team!!!

Too much speculation when it comes to games not played. Without a playoff Alabama would have been matched with some big10 contender in a bowl game and declared to be the best ever. Preseason rankings by experts are proven wrong most of the time on the field. Speculation is speculation. My orange colored glasses has Clemson by 28 points.

I say its close to a pic'em , but slight edge to the Tigers based on our defensive edge . Say all you want about the Seminoles but they were a very good team in 2013 . Crablegs was a great college QB and despite all of his illegal activities and proclivity for screwing up off the field he could get it done when they teed it up . Also , They were ( like we are now ) absolutely loaded at all position groups and that includes their OL which is of course a far cry from where they are now at that spot .
Game would be a shootout in my view .
Ultimately , Clemson wins by scoring on it's final drive and then holding the Noles to 15 yds and 5 plays as time expires .

Tough call. The 2012 FSU was a good team. 2013 F$U was definitely a great team. In 2014 they seemed to be a loss waiting to happen (it happened in the CFP vs. Oregon). They are a good example of how quickly a program can go downhill (self inflicted or not). Obviously 2015-2018 Clemson overall is better than 2012-2015 F$U.

The Winston guy for FSU in 2013 was "nuts", kinda' like TL16 for Clemson in 2018. But given our defense at the time (in 2018), I'd take our 2018 Tigers over the 2013 noles' by at least 14 pts.
Go Tigers!!!

I’d like to think this isn’t orange tinted glasses, but it’s pretty clearly ‘18 Clemson. ‘13 FSU was loaded, but ‘18 Clemson was better at the 3 most important position groups (QB, DL, & OL). Yes Winston won the Heisman, but he did it on a team that ran up scores and hardly played backups and I’m certain any NFL scout would tell you the Bucs would trade players in a heartbeat. Clemson went 15-0 playing basically the entire 3 deep+ every game. So I’d also give Clemson the edge in depth and maturity (this one is for obvious reasons). I don’t think the game would be particularly close. I would predict somewhere in the ballpark of Clemson 45-14 FSU.

That might be one of the best hypothetical games ever

The two best ACC teams in the last decade are easily 2018 Clemson and 2013 FSU. It would be a HELL of a game.
Obviously I'd like to say we'd win, but dang were they good back then. Also, and this goes without saying, but 2013 FSU would have beaten Alabama just as bad as we did in January.

Would the '18 Tigers beat the '13 Tigers
Jul 16, 2019, 8:59 AM

Worse than the 'Noles did? Depends on whether Dabo would run it up on himself!
To me, '18 Tigers are what the '14 Ducks were, with a far, FAR better defense. I'll take the Tigers over a very good 'Noles squad, because Winston can be a head case facing adversity...and Brent could bring adversity with the '18 squad. Ain't that right, Tua...and you, too, Nick?

Dabo Swinney > Jimbo Fisher, for starters. Also....

In 2013 we were down 17-0 in the blink of an eye thanks to 2 turnovers, one on the first play of the game and the other a fumble return for a TD. Our D was behind the 8 ball before they ever came out of the locker room. There were 4 Clemson turnovers total. As good as Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett, Shaq Lawson, and Stephone Anthony were, they weren't going to overcome what was basically a one man show on O, Watkins. And our DBs were just above average, to boot.
Our 2018 O was light years better than 2013, even if Sammy Watkins was on that team. The OL was exponentially better, Etienne and Dixon are in another galaxy compared to Roderick McDowell and DJ Howard. Our starting WRs on that team were Watkins, Martavis Bryant, and Adam Humphries. No disrespect to those guys compared to the WRs now, but c'mon. And then there's Trevor Lawrence as opposed to Tajh Boyd.
Our 2018 defense would've destroyed Jameis Winston. He would've gotten some yardage but only because he was running for his life, and he certainly wouldn't have thrown for 444 yds and 3 TDs. FSU would've never gained 565 yds on last year's D, if for no other reason than our 2018 O wouldn't have put them in a hole from the get, but moreover, our 2018 team was simply better than 2013 FSU.

thanks to 6 turnovers and letting Connor Shaw out of trouble time and time again. There's really no comparison to that team and the 2018 Tigers, on either side of the ball. The only thing better about the 2013 team was special teams, w/ Catanzaro and Pinion, then Watkins returning kicks.
As an aside, can you imagine Watkins in the slot on this current team? College football, and many NFL teams, have never seen anything like that.
