All this hoopla about the first ten win season since

the early 90's is a little misleading. Back then Clemson only played 11 regular season games. So it's comparing apples and oranges. It would be more accurate to compare this team's number in the loss column than the number of wins. So, when was the last time Clemson was guaranteed to lose no more than two games in a regular season?

No I know we're not the team of 1981. If we were, we would be playing in the NC game and not trying to get in the sugar bowl. But this is the best ### team we have had in a very very long time. And most of Clemson Nation is very excited about what they are seeing built at Clemson AGAIN.

Our 10 win seasons in the mid-late 80's came after a bowl win and we'd finish 10-2.
We had a 10-1 regular season in '78.
12-0 in '81.
9 wins was the best we did in regular season after that.
All those years involved 11 game regular seasons.
We have a chance to win 11 games in a regular season for the 2nd time in school history. Other occasion was '81.

There is still a ways to go before comparing. The only other 10 win seasons in the 80's came with 2 losses.
If we win against SC and in our bowl game, I don't think there is any doubt this would be the best team since 81.
So you think this team one loss team is worse than the 3 loss 2000 team?

this is the best offensive team we have seen since, um...ever. just amazing.

Fact is, the ACC is harder and more balanced now than it was in the 80's and 90's. The 85 scholarship limit has led to more teams capable of beating anyone on any given weekend. No question about it. Just for instance, the NC State team we beat yesterday is better than any of the State teams that beat Danny 3 years in a row. In fact, Danny lost a lot of games he should have won.
