Reasons pro football is losing viewers:

1. Overtime rules suck. Games are decided by the toss of a coin.

The Falcons didn't stop them, plain and simple.***

Shouldn't both teams get a shot? Both defenses were gassed. Seems like the offenses had the advantage which goes back to the coin toss. Where am I wrong?

Atlanta Scored

Feb 6, 2017, 9:07 AM

7 points in the 2nd half and none in the final 22 minutes of regulation. Their offense scored 21 the entire game. Time of possession was nearly 2-1 for New England (40 mins to 23 mins).

New England's defense was anything but gassed, they had shut down ATL for the better part of the second half. Atlanta's D on the other hand hadn't stopped anything the entire 4th quarter.

I don't care what rules you had in place in for OT, New England was going to win that game.

I love the NFL, but that was terrible.

Feb 5, 2017, 11:05 PM

We knew it was basically over when NE won the toss.

Disagree. OT happens a handful of times each season.

The NFL is often bad football. Poor tackling, slow running backs, poor decision-making by players, overhyped prima donnas, too many thugs, and so on that are exhibit every game.

All the OT rule did is expedite the outcome

Feb 6, 2017, 7:41 AM

ATL Defense had been on the field the entire second half. They had no chance of stopping Brady regardless of the format.

First team to get the ball wins roughly 54% of the time.

Feb 6, 2017, 7:55 AM

8% is pretty big advantage but that's still reasonably close to even odds. The team that wins the toss is absolutely not a given to win the game. Not even close.

Yeah, just do the toss at the beginning and save us all some time. A rotten way to do overtime.

I know y'all want to watch the entire game but really??? A dud of a rule.
