Left brain (logical side) is busy and goes baseline just helping form the picture for us, while right brain (creative, non-logical) is left to make sense of it all. It's a bad formula - we're much more emotionally driven when getting info this way and ripe for suggestion.

Google "brain activity watching television" - there's plenty to choose from to find out more.
