Not saying things like this out loud is commonly referred to as "political correctness."

We should want as many people to vote as possible.

If that is bad for a candidate, then that person needs to do a better job of convincing more people to vote for him/her.

I get the sentiment, but if someone can't bring themselves to go vote, or go vote early if needed, then should we be actively seeking their opinion on things?
I don't think it's a bad thing to have the slightest bit of effort involved. Heck, if it were up to me, voters would have to pass a very simple civics test in order to register.
Summarize, I don't see the benefit of involving the un-engaged and apathetic in the election.

I think that's a slippery road...

I think it's a broad brush to say people who are not voting are always doing so because of a lack of effort.
As a personal example, I did not vote in the 2016 Republican primary. I was planning to, and was excited about doing so, but I suddenly had a death in the family. I didn't vote, but it's not because I was lazy. Circumstances did not allow me to do it. Maybe if I had gotten a ballot in the mail the week before or something like that, I would have done it.
I'd rather not be a judge of whose opinion is valid. Someone might think mine shouldn't count for some reason. I'd rather let everyone have a voice.

only don't vote because something comes up at the end? I don't
As an aside, I tend to utilize early voting as much as I can to avoid situations like you mention.

No, I don't think it's most.

But I don't think it's necessarily mostly because of laziness either. Even if it was because of laziness, I don't see how helping them vote is a bad thing. The more votes, the better, as far as I'm concerned.
I don't even like disallowing felons from voting.

Why not? I haven't thought about the issue deeply though.

Election fraud and the electoral college.
High turnout and popular vote would decimate the republican party

I didn't say the GOP put it in place. I'm just claiming that it helps them, which it absolutely does.
The constitution isn't a perfect document, it got somethings wrong, the electoral college is one of them.
It's the one area the right seems to be ok with minority rule. But land is more important than people I suppose...
