Alex bostic

Mar 1, 2016, 7:06 PM

I feel pretty optimistic with him as the closer this year. The guy throws fire and has a nasty breaking ball.

When players square up the ball on Bostic, it gets hit hard because he throws hard. So far the balls he throws have been dodging the bats. He is good.

He throws hard. When the batters square him up he gets hit hard. So far he hasn't been hit hard... you follow?

Somebody shoulda told

Nolan Ryan that.... then maybe he might have made it in the majors. Just don't throw it 100 MPH.

Thanks for the response. You're attempt at humor was unsuccessful. It's science, throw the ball hard it gets hit hard. The guy was saying that Bostic throws hard, that's it.

Sure it's science but I've seen guys that throw low 80s get absolutely ripped. If you square up any ball it's going to get hit hard. Bostic throws hard but does a good job of keeping off balance due to his breaking ball. He's what you want in your closer, a good three pitch guy and a good change in pace.

Exactly. I wasn't saying that throwing hard is a bad thing and that all hard throwers get rocked. I was just discussing basic physics. If you're throwing 65 or 105 and you groove one right down the middle it will be ripped if the batter squares it up.

Bostic has done a good job of mixing his pitches thus far, I think he will have a really solid season for us in the back of the pen. We have plenty of arms with some talent that will compliment each other for sure. Schnell, Krall, Eubanks, and Bostic are all solid and I also like what I've seen from Gilliam and Brooks Crawford as well.

And take it into real save situations. He threw the ball well last night.
