First tape i ever owned. Did a bunch of chores for an older kid down the street so he would buy it for me because i knew my parents wouldn't let me have it.
Beastie Boys-License to Ill was the first tape i ever bought.
These two would be 1/2 interchangeably on any given day to date in my lifetime depending on my mood.

And, MJ-Thriller for pretty much the rest of the whole globe.

Last time I saw them they played a lot of Sublime..this time it sounded like a phish/widespread cover binge.
It was terrible. Between the songs that just drone on and on, the unintelligible words..it attracts this kinda nonsense:

But seriously, there was ONE great rock and roll LP in the 80s and it was by GnR. Oh how they could have been the next Stones, but it was not to be.
As far as great albums, but not necessarily rock and roll, I'd say:
U2 classics including War (my fave) and the Joshua Tree Duran Duran - DD, Rio Waterboys - Fisherman's Blues Big Country - The Crossing The Police had several - Ghost, Zenyatta, Sync

Lollapalooza. Their set was freaking spectacular. As a matter of fact, the entire lineup was fantastic, and Ice T & Bodycount was the band that blew the lid off the festival. Siouxsie and the Banshees followed Ice T and most of the place laid down and took a nap during their set, LOL.

Hey Alexa, play the Talking Heads' discography from Remain in Light through Naked. Then "The Name of...." and then "Stop Making Sense"
After you are done, play Dire Straits - Alchemy.

but to be honest, give me any of them. That band could write some great tunes. Love David Byrne. Saw him last May and am VERY MUCH hoping he tours again this year in the Southern USA.
I've got many favorites off all those albums. Fela's Riff off the Remain in Light outtakes is PHENOMENAL.

it's hard for me to make a better/worse distinction between
Murmur Life's Rich Pageant Fables of the Reconstruction / Reconstruction of the Fables Document
I would add for consideration: Full Moon Fever - Tom Petty Joshua Tree - U2 (this one is a given imo) Appetite for Destruction - Guns n’ Roses Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust Thriller
