I've encountered a male in the wild, jet black and probably around 100 lbs. I was half way up a live oak before it caught wind of me and turned tail. They make awful noises in the night.

I lived/ worked at a small research facility in the glades for a spell, the sounds of nature at night could be deafening, especially the tree frogs. And I have been in the water with them gators before, anything under 5 feet aint gonna mess with you, unless you are dumb enough to try and grabs it by its tail and do bad things.
Old bahlmer never really stays anywhere for more than a couple of years, he gets that yearning to see what else is out there, and often a woman is involved. But those days have past, I am cashing it in and hanging the spurs along the scenic treasure coast, currently free from disease spreadin' yankees.

If you play at golf or better, the Florida Club in Stuart is nice, a little different stretch than many Florida courses.

But I have access to the sailfish point golf course. If I am going to duck out early on a Friday, it is usually in search of the ever elusive snook. A 50+ pound tarpon or goliath grouper towing me around in my kayak is also on the bucket list.
