Muschamp

Dec 5, 2014, 11:15 AM

Am I wrong in absolutely hoping beyond hope that Muschamp is named head coach in waiting at Scar?? There is a reason Mack Brown wouldn't let him take over at Texas and other programs passed, and there is a reason that Florida has been a dumpster fire since he's been there. Bring it on is my view.

I agree. Some coaches are great coordinators that become great coaches but some great coordinators can't make the transition to HC greatness. If Muschamp can't make it @UF, what makes anyone think he can do it in Cootville?

I would love it. The only upside for them is the limited drop off in recruiting. Although Dabo has been landing plenty of guys out of Muschamp's backyard and Florida recruits itself. They might get back to their defensive ways but I don't think he could turn it around fast enough for SOS to still be around and without him the offense will quickly decline under Muschamp.

Actually....vastly overrated as a DC...

Dec 5, 2014, 11:28 AM

go check out the stats during his DC years at Auburn and Texas. Mildly above average in most years. Downright awful a couple of years. His "reputation" was built purely on being a hot headed blow hard that was mistaken for "passion" and demanding excellence. One of the most overblown guys ever. Perfect for Coots.

Agreed...

Muschamp is a clown...From what I have read/heard is that he has already had an agreement with Auburn and that they were just trying to iron out some personnel issues on his staff before finalizing it...

If he couldn't win at Florida, with all their recruiting base, he won't win at cootland, bring him on. I don't understand why everyone's so enamored of him. He's a good defensive coordinator, but not a great one. People act like Texas' defense under him was the 85 Bears or something. Ellis Johnson is just as good or better a DC than Muschamp. Venables is a lot better than Muschanp. He's a good recruiter, sure, but that's all I see that great about him.

Fingers are crossed, but it's probably horsecrap rumors.

That "article" on 247 said Muschamp was seen up here in SC today. Well, the man said he he was going on a family vacation last week. I doubt that includes a trip to Columbia. Most vacations don't.

However, maybe he WILL come next week? Soon? Do we have to wait until Christmas?

He may be a train wreck as a head coach but he is a very good coordinator and would likely give the ##### a very effective defensive scheme waiting for the old buzzard ball coach to retire. I have mixed emotions about the possibility of him going to Columbia.
