Can we still blame the decisions he made as GM?

I feel like that's pretty important.

Absolutely, but to be fair, he only got the GM job by

default due to the ineptitude of the McNair Family and the rest of Upper Management...He was a good gameday coach and it was a big mistake firing him mid-season, especially when you are going to replace him with RAC, he makes BOB look like Bill Parcells on gamedays...And if you need further indictment on the Texans organization, they are/were considering making the interim position a permanent one...All that being said, he WAS a horrible GM...The most disturbing part was that he was throwing resources at the problems and they still weren't getting solved, and that's a problem no matter what kind of coach you are.

I have always thought he was a pretty good coach

Albeit he made some weird coaching decisions this year prior to being fired. But his playoff appearances cannot be overlooked. He went out on a limb with the Hopkins/Johnson trade and ultimately it probably cost him his job.

Yeah, that move probably lost him the locker room and THAT

was ultimately what got him run...But he HAD to trade Nuk, he was fixing to hold out 2 years into a 5 year deal and they needed that extra cash to tighten up their ACTUAL franchise player, Deshaun...And the fact that they looking at keeping RAC for another year as a lame duck until they get out of Covid hell is simply inconceivable
