ACC lack of review

Oct 24, 2016, 3:29 PM

I really don't understand how this is not a penalty. You look the word up in the dictionary and you will find this picture!

Need a few frames earlier showing crown directly to helmet.***

IMO the "helmet-to-helmet" is irrelevant because the rule

Oct 24, 2016, 3:50 PM

has two parts, one of which specifically states that you cannot lead with the crown of your helmet:

"No player shall target and make forcible contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul.

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:

Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area

A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground

Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area

Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet"

He violated the part of the rule put in there to protect the tackling player. We don't even have to get into the rest of it.

Doesn't the ACC review games for the ref's performance? This was a major miss on the ref's part and had a significant impact on the game. How in the world can NC State complain about the refs!!!???

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

this is exactly true....

Oct 24, 2016, 4:36 PM [ in reply to IMO the "helmet-to-helmet" is irrelevant because the rule ]

but the ACC is swimming in deceit and stupidity.

That's why Dabo needs to kick their ares's for the next 15 years....

lol... I remember how mad ACC folks used to get at Danny Ford.

It was one of the greatest things about the man; he simply wouldn't take no bull.

They would have ruled it targeting if there was enough

Oct 24, 2016, 4:36 PM

outrage but they're going to try to cover their #### whenever they possibly can and say the right call was made. Everyone that isn't an NC state fan, coot or hater of Clemson in general can clearly see it was a dirty hit but it doesn't matter because it was missed on the field and the ACC isn't going to say they screwed up unless they absolutely have to. If people complained about this hit half as much as people complained about the handful of excuses they had for why Louisville didn't beat Clemson this hit would have been ruled dirty because it's undeniable.

You are talking about a conference and commissioner who

Oct 24, 2016, 4:55 PM

moved all of their conference championships out of North Carolina because of a stupid law that was passed, yet does not have the courage of their conviction to move their offices to another state.......hypocrisy at its best!
