ACC division idea....

Since it came up again...time to bring up this old division split idea.....

Old School Division (original ACC)

Clemson
Duke
GT
NCSU
UNC
Virginia
Wake Forest

New School

BC
FSU
Louisville
Miami
Pitt
Syracuse
Va. Tech

Cross Division "Rivalry" games (if you had to have them) would be:

Clemson-FSU
Duke-Syracuse
GT-Miami
NCSU-Louisville
UNC-Pittsburgh
Virginia-Va. Tech
Wake-BC

Then we could rotate playing FSU, Miami, Va. Tech and maybe Louisville for the ACC championship while we crush the old ACC.m every year in division play.

The new school has some schools on there that are pretty good programs as opposed to the old way. So, NCSU trade for Miami & still get U of L & FL State. Well, the ACC is a tougher division than the SEC, and I'm no conference homer. To me, I don't think it would matter that much. However with ACC rising and our opponents being that of higher caliber makes our program set up well to have some great wins and be in the conversation for the final four with winning against who we play, as well as our non-conference set up. IMO, either way, Clemson will be considered top ACC contenders as long as Swinney as at the helm.

The old ACC idea is a good one but I doubt Miami and FSU would like the idea of being in the same division. I would like to see Clemson play UNC each year. That to me seems like a natural cross over game if the divisions were left as is.
