ACC Strength

Oct 21, 2019, 10:45 AM

I was noticing that Coach Swinney said that we won our first seven games last year by an average of 28.7 points and this year it was 28 points. Obviously we are not getting the same respect this year as last, so my question is:

Are the ACC teams (our competition) really than much inferior this year as compared to last year ?

About on par as Alabama...

The problem for the ACC is a lack of a clear "challenger". Coastal is doing their win/loss roulette of doom and the 2nd best team is Wake. If there was any team that could at least be in the top 15/20, then the point would be moot. We would need that 10-2 team to make the health of the conference look better but I think about 10 teams will finish between 6-6 and 7-5 this year. Yikes.

That being said, it wasn't like and CFP team has challenged us last year....

I do think that we could still have a couple of 10-2 or 9-3 type teams....

UVA clearly flopped against Miami....but I could see them at 9-3 and ranked by the end.

Pitt also has a chance at a similar record and ranking.

I’m not sure either wins out....but could see them as solid 9-3 teams.

Pitt is a team to keep an eye on....early loss to UVA...very close loss at Penn State...friendly schedule going forward.

Texas A&M and Syracuse were better last year than this year.

Other than those 2 (we had already played Furman last year and still have Wofford left this year), I'm not sure that we met any tougher competition in the first 7 last season.

The big separation will come in the next two.

Last season we won our 8th game by 49 points and our 9th game by 61.

I doubt we will meet those margins in the next two games.

Texas A&M was an away win and Syracuse was wayyyy better. The big difference was NC State who was in the top 20 and undefeated when we played them.

A&M was really only ever good in the one game against us last year, they've been pretty mediocre ever since.

no different than bama or oklahoma and ohio state

we have played 2 teams with winning records...oklahoma has played 1 that being texas and bama has played 3..the whole we have beaten no one argument is blown way out of proportion when looking at the other teams they have propped up so high
