A Better Playoff format ......

8 team playoff
Winner of each of the 5 power conferences gets a spot and 3 at large spots with no conference having more than 2 teams. This would also mean one more playoff game each team plays but it is a fair way to reward each conference champion.

Or, if expanded to 6 teams, you could do the P5 champs and topped ranked G5 team, with the 1 and 2 seeds (highest ranked conference champions) getting a bye. Thoughts?

The only problem with that is it would always be a dumb SEC

Team in that 6th spot. At least with 8 you can get an actual deserving team to be in the hunt.

I said this from the beginning. It could be the 4 traditional major New Years Day bowls (Rose, Sugar, Orange and Cotton) with their traditional conference tie-ins, and the Sugar, Orange and Cotton each taking one of the at-large bids. Then the champs of the Orange and Sugar play in the Peach, and champs of the Rose and Cotton play in the Fiesta. Then a rotating championship site as we already have.

In order to make up for the fact that it would add an additional neutral site travel game, you could make the conference championship games home games for the better record team.
