Dem friends,

Apr 23, 2019, 10:49 PM

you need to get a hold on your primary candidates or Trump is going to wipe you out in 2020. You have an uphill battle in challenging a man who created such a booming economy. Socialism and socialistic agenda and ideology are going be the ruin of your party.

Re: Dem friends,

Apr 23, 2019, 11:24 PM

Trump didn't create a booming economy. It was well on it's way before Trump. Retards like yourself think that though. It would have been greay with or wothout him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's ugly to attack someone on a personal level.

Squirm all you want, you're not coming off the top of my prayer list. Frankly, I don't care that your oblivious to economics or fail to realize the market and outlook for everyone, everything from consumers, small and large businesses is positive due to Trump's lowering taxes and removal of Obama's business stiffing regulations.

I'm saying you're ignorant but starting to wonder whether or not it's lack of technical education or just intentional from being obstinate. I realize I can't fix stupid but maybe Slick Willie's words will have some bearing on your perceptions.

"IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!"

So much of todays politics is so hard for Carlsbad to handle. Trump got served up on a Silver Platter and that Political Party with an Overbite can't reel him in.

My advice to him: don't hate the asskicking: deal with it.

A 39% approval rating is not a good sign for him

Apr 23, 2019, 11:57 PM

Voters have somehow not received the message that they owe everything positive in their lives to Trump’s stable genius. Why is that do you suppose?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think that speaks to the OP’s point.

A 39% approval rating is beatable...might not want to run a socialist against him, though.

Yet people forget how popular Bernie the Socialist was in 2016

Apr 24, 2019, 8:50 AM

And I think he could have easily won the general election had he been the nominee.

People will vote in their own self-interest and for a ton of them, that means favoring a socialist agenda. Affordable health care. Affordable college. Etc.

Trump blew his wad on tax cuts, a one time gamble that paid dividends to stock market but hasn’t helped the average voter much relative to the cost.

He will probably have to become a socialist himself to win in 2020 and that would be both tragic and hilarious.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We shall see. Balm was always a big “vote your interests” guy

Apr 24, 2019, 10:28 AM

and it always comes across to me like “vote for the guy or girl who offers to take other people’s Money and give you free stuff.” I have hope that the American voters are not so selfish and myopic, but I agree that “free stuff!” Is an appealing sales pitch. It’s never actually free of course, but glaze over that long enough and you can get power for yourself, and hey...that’s pretty cool.

Anyway, I don’t think 2020 is the year the Socialists fool enough people. Unemployment at 3.8%, black unemployment at historically low numbers, taxes lowered...tough to upend with the Free Stuff Express Train to Ruin.

Apr 24, 2019, 9:19 AM [ in reply to A 39% approval rating is not a good sign for him ]

I'm certainly not ever going to predict an election again after what happened in 2016, but I will say the one thing that is really, really hurting Trump that every successful two-term president has done before him:

He hasn't reached across the aisle to win over new supporters. The numbers show on that. Anecdotally, I know several Trump supporters or voters, but they were already in that camp before the election. I haven't met anyone since the 2016 election who has decided to come over to Trump's side after previously opposing him. But I've met plenty who voted for him and swear they'll never do it again.

But I mean, he's got a year. So anything can happen.

Speak out against the idiocy.

Apr 24, 2019, 10:03 AM

You remain silent for fear of being identified as a Trump supporter and confused with all the things you accuse Trump and his supporters of doing and being, racist, homophobe... You fear being the object of the radical left venom. You even talk like them sometimes by refusing to offer contradictory opinion which they would accuse of being Trump talk.

I'm aware that most dems aren't radical idiots and their attitudes toward economic, social and justice concerns are middle of the road. You probably are skirting the edge of that sect of the dem party but you don't show it because Trump must be removed from office or beaten soundly in 2020 at all cost. The problem is, your silence is ripping the soul out of the democrat party by providing for only the loud voices to dominate your message.

While you slept Trump took the working class from you. He's taken the SCOTUS and half the appeals courts. You keep ####### around with socialism and he'll finish by taking the blacks, the rest of the courts and possibly capture the illegal immigrants by sponsoring a bill to amnesty for those who aren't breaking laws while he deports the illegals who break the law.

How are you suppose to get a hold of a primary candidate indeed? Take your party back.

Pretty sure no one is going to label me a Trump supporter.

...confused with all the things you accuse Trump and his supporters of doing and being, racist, homophobe...

Not all things. Just a few.

You fear being the object of the radical left venom.

Nah. Those guys are pretty easy to handle. The actions of rabid Trumpies are far more sinister.

You even talk like them sometimes by refusing to offer contradictory opinion which they would accuse of being Trump talk.

I don't need to offer a contradictory opinion to the dumb actions of Trump and his supporters.

I'm aware that most dems aren't radical idiots and their attitudes toward economic, social and justice concerns are middle of the road. You probably are skirting the edge of that sect of the dem party but you don't show it because Trump must be removed from office or beaten soundly in 2020 at all cost.

Oh yeah. You're one of the folks here who thinks I'm a Democrat and a raging leftist since I don't support Trump. Even though Trump isn't a conservative and only naive folks believe he is. Yeah. I'm pro-gun, supportive of laissez-faire economics, opposed to all these "Democratic socialist" measures, etc. Real liberal, ya know? You see, I'm also a Constitutionalist and a huge supporter of the Bill of Rights, and most people on the far right despise the Bill of Rights (particularly 1st, 4th, 5th, and 8th amendments... but they sure love some 2nd... that's about it). I also believe in our checks and balances working, something Trump lovers don't. They want a strong man who will force their beliefs past Congress.

So in your mind, that's liberal Democrat.

While you slept Trump took the working class from you.

Nope, they're still mine. I have em in my basement.

I bet you'd love "taking the blacks," wouldn't ya? So... LOL... illegal immigrants are going to support Trump now? Okay.

How are you suppose to get a hold of a primary candidate indeed? Take your party back.

Not my party, bruh. Take YOUR party back from the idiocy of Trumpism. Because it sure ain't conservatism.

“Socialistic Agenda” may poll different among millinials and

Apr 24, 2019, 8:49 AM

more diverse populations.

Viewing things through the lens of an “older white male” baby boomer can limit perspective.

Personally socialism has a somewhat negative connotation - but realize that Social Security and Medicare fit that criteria. I hope to utilize both within a few short years. My children benifited from State sponsored scholarships and the ACA provision for dependent coverage until 26.

Categorizing policy in broad terms makes things simple but may not serve individual or the country’s best interests.

Agree with you, to a point. The Dems (I'm independent, liberal socially, conservative fiscally), could very well run too far left and get hammered in the next election.

This, in my view, is an over-reaction to current policy. I don't know that it's fair to say Trump is responsible for this boom in the economy, but he didn't hurt it.

Unfortunately, there still remains the status quo that propelled him into office. Washington gridlock and the economic disenfranchisement of large parts of the population. In some way this "boom' has exacerbated that very problem. The rich are, in fact, richer and the poor are poorer under this President.

The things that have helped this boom is an old Republican formula, cut taxes on the rich(primarily) and increase spending particularly on defense. Bush did the same thing.

Unfortunately, we have all time record deficits for which the Republicans will also role out an old formula, cut entitlements to the poor while ignoring that the DOD has never been completely audited. Health Care costs continue to rise and Insurance premiums sky-rocket while those same Health Insurers enjoy record profits. Govt. sanctioned and legislatively protected greed is alive and well in the sectors including Pharmaceutical prices.

We are now a country at war constantly. Our economy and certainly stockholders benefit from Trillions of dollars in Defense spending over decades.

All the factors motivate people. If "Democratic Socialism" appears to be a viable answer to them, they'll vote that way. The same way the voted Trump into office as a "viable" answer to the status quo at the time.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Unless inflation sets in...

Apr 24, 2019, 3:06 PM

the poor will not get any poorer. The disabled will continue to receive gov support along with the elderly, as only fair. Are you confusing the gap between those groups and the poor for being justified in saying the poor are getting poorer?

That gap opens during good economic time like we're enjoying. Trump's policy on taxes and regulations have stimulated our economy to growth as high as 4.2% GDP. I won't quote how many millions of jobs that have opened up during his tenure but it's taken millions off the welfare and food stamp roles.

The fact that the middle class is not losing members other than some of them now being classified as rich does not justify saying the poor are getting poorer. That's not to say some middle class folks haven't slipped back into poverty but that's not the general direction the middle class is moving in this economy.

I didn't open this can of worms but Fox was the only major network which contradicted your favorite network and got the collusion delusion correct. You probably think that was an act of fate or just some cosmic punishment to CNN, NBC, ABC or CBS.

Fox has two or three guys who stand out above all the rest no matter which news network you watch. Shepard Smith and Bret Baier are unbiased, fair and balanced. I believe Smith hates Trump, you might like the guy's new program. Fox was right, your fav lied without investigating or being circumspect.

Maybe Carter wasn't a monster but the rest were. Carter was just a liberal fokup but I believe he had good intent and he did what he thought was best at the time.
