Mr. Billy O'Dell passed away in Newberry this morning. A fine Christian gentleman and true Clemson legend.

Very sorry to hear this and have always thought he was special as I recall seeing he never played a day in the minors and that was pretty rare then I think

You are correct. I I think he still holds the record for most strike outs in a 9 inning game at Clemson. If memory serves me correct he struck out 21 Gamecocks.

I remember I have seen Billy pitching with San Francisco Giants in 1961. He won.

My dad went to Clemson with him. He always referred to him as “Digger” O’Dell. By the way I always figured he was related to Nancy.
