Had Dr. Skardon for American Lit. in summer school 1977.

Great Professor!!! Great Man!!! Great Hero!!!

He wanted to know if some of my classmates from the Lowcountry could speak "Geechee." He asked about that often early in the summer.
:)

I did not know of his military service at that time. Wish I had.

I missed him but remember the name. I had
Rice,Steadman, McElroy and Holman for the 100 & 200 Eng. courses in 63-64. Dr.Harriet Holman told us if we didn't read at least one book a week we would regress back to the HS level in reading skill, but I guess that was before the Internet and HD TV.

i had Colonel Skardon too - for 2 classes. I knew from "Colonel" that he had been in the military but did not know until my own daughter's ring ceremony a few years ago that he had been in WWII, let alone the Battan Death March.

He was a memorable teacher and I learned a lot from him.

So proud that he is a Clemson man. Most of us can only hope to be a fraction of such a man.

Had him for 101 and 102 in 1966/67,,,from my home town..Walterboro..went out with his daughter and niece,,,he is and has been my one of my three personal heroes. They simply do not make them like that any more..America's Greatest Generation..in spades...if you have not read his story....you really need to...

Remember like it was yesterday.

Dr. Skardon came to class dressed in a light blue striped seersucker suit and a bow tie many days that summer of 1977.

True Southern Gentlemen and Great Clemson Man/Professor/Hero!!!
