8 dollars!

Getting older can be tough! I have learned, however, that memories can be a beautiful thing! I was 15 years old in 1977, and my blood was just as orange then as now. Daddy kept the ticket stubs from the Notre Dame game.... 8 dollars was what it cost you to see our Tigers play! I remember how quiet it was, people acting as if they were clapping, waving their hands without them coming together. I also remember that Jim Rice and Fred Lynn of the Boston Red Sox were at the game. The PA announcer announced them, and they were only about 10 rows above where we were sitting. To a 15 year old, that loved NBCs game of the week with Tony Kubek and Joe Garigiola... that was a big deal. I remember the raw emotion I felt, the excitement of watching our Tigers take a lead into the 4th quarter. You must remember, this team had only won 5 games the previous 2 seasons. That game, and that year, 1977, was the beginning of a wonderful run in Clemson! I watch now and see tickets going for 800, not 8 dollars and just smile. What is even more wonderful to me.... I am now 53 years young, and I am just as excited and ready for Saturday night as I was 38 years ago! To all of you that will be blessed to be in attendance, especially you taking children and teenagers.... savor every moment! Looking back, its amazing how many great memories 8 dollars has brought me. Yell for me, as I will be yelling at my TV... GO TIGERS Clemson is not something you do, it is a way of life!

That year! We had to stop a few years ago because of health issues and I miss seeing the Tigers run down the hill. Always gives me goose bumps. I never miss a game on TV...looking forward to a Tiger victory this weekend.

I was blessed to be at the one in 1977 and this one on Saturday night. My dad was at the 1977 game with me but will be yelling and screaming from heaven for this one. I cherish the memories from the 1077 one and plan on making many new ones. You are so right, it is a way of life. That first game let us know we could be great....and this team has the opportunity to BE great, not just think you can be. I'll be yelling for you and all those that were at the first one but can't be at this one. Go Tigers!

Thank you all! Rudlinda, lost my dad in 2010. Some of the sweetest memories I have with him were spent in Clemson! Every time our Tigers are at the top of the hill, I can still hear his voice!
