I have mentioned rice popsicles sold to us by kids who brought them out on bikes with styrofoam coolers when we were near a road. Found a picture of my first, and only purchase - rice was not my favorite flavor but was a cool change from C-rations in the middle of the field. We weighed the multiple dangers inherent in eating these and surmised that dying from them was no worse than alternate methods that we dealt with daily.

Thank you for your service. I missed it by 18 months, but served 11 years in the USAF! I will never understand why we got involved without a clear plan of victory, but thanks to all the men and women who served, suffered and returned to a pretty much thankless nation!
