Travel tips for packing light?

Wanna take a carry on backpack and have everything in there for 3-4 days. I'm cheap. Not paying to check in a bag. Thought about pulling a Joey and:

Then manpack. 4 days should only require 3 underwear, 2 tshirts, 2 jorts, 2 kilos of cocaine, and a wallet. PLUS you have all the stuff you wear when you depart.

Should be enough room left in your bag to return with souvenirs.

Roll most of my stuff and fits perfectly in the overhead compartment. The backpack straps make carrying it a breeze, too.
