I had a former boss who gave me that news about my brother a few years ago. He did a remarkable job with it. His empathy and concern made an awful moment much easier

Not really sure why Ed said this though:

"Our thoughts and prayers out to him. Steve and his wife, his family are so distraught. Steve is a man. He knows how to handle things."

Women handle things too, sometimes better than men. I just think he was a little insensitive (definitely not PC) with that comment.

Orgeron is who he is. Not PC. As far as men being different from women, turns out they are. As one example, LSU coach and father-in-law is coaching this game.
