2010 was a very bad year for Clemson football. Going into

Mar 20, 2017, 12:47 PM

the 2011 season what began to change?
1. Recruiting came alive--some of it based on facility changes
2. Coaches got fired and good coaches who fit got hired that were a product of the vision of the program
3.Admin stood behind coach even when many fans called for Dabo to be gone.
4. Leadership began to emerge from current players. This was start of move toward greatness

It is always the darkest before dawn--as was proved in football.

Now, are we in the same boat in basketball? For BB to turn the boat around where are we in regards to the 4 items above? Also, many in October and November pointed to the next year not this year as the year Clemson would come alive. Was that false on your part to predict that? Remember we stayed with teams in 2010 but lost in last quarter or minutes loses for the most part. Was that the tale of our basketball program this season?

Always wanting the best for Clemson--GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was upset that the season went so badly. However there are differences from the Brownell situation. Dabo had won an Atlantic Division title. Brownell has won nothing. In 2010 the administration was going to lose money big time . Finally the BOTs decided that football was as important as academics. They gave Dabo enough money to hire a real offensive coordinator. Dabo fired his friend Napier. We got behind football and the rest is history. We are not getting behind basketball. Has Brownell fired his sorry assistant coaches? Let's see if real changes happen.

"Brownell has won nothing."

NCAA T game his first season is equivalent to Dabo winning the ACC Atlantic that one year.

That's ridiculous. Winning a division title is bigger than getting into the NCAAs. That was Purnells team he won with . He hasn't made it since.

Big difference in that Dabo was here 2 years, Brownell 7

Mar 20, 2017, 3:37 PM

Its hard to compare the 2. If it was Dabo's 7th year going on number 8 and he had accomplished the equivalent to what Brownell had he would have been gone way before his 7th season. And thats the cold hard facts....

Re: Big difference in that Dabo was here 2 years, Brownell 7

Dabo by year 7 had won an ACC title. He put us in the Orange Bowl defeating Ohio State. We made the playoffs. Brownell has done nothing. He's a huge loser.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is not the same boat. Compare the 2015 year in football

Mar 20, 2017, 3:47 PM

as it was Dabo's 7th full season as head coach. The "fans" calling for Dabo's head in 2010 were panicky and still butthurt over not getting the big time "name" they wanted following Bowden and were seizing anything they could find.

The fans wanting to see a change in basketball today, IMO, are simply tired of a consistent annual litany of disappointment and falling short with little to no evidence that anything will improve by maintaining the status quo.

Everyone was pointing to this year with JB back

Mar 20, 2017, 3:57 PM

not next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you hit the nail on the head on bad coaches were fired

Mar 20, 2017, 7:13 PM

Rob Spence was the change that needed to happen. In basketball,BB is the Rob Spence or Jack Leggett in baseball

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Spence was fired when Dabo took over

Mar 20, 2017, 7:55 PM

not after 2010

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Too many holes in this analogy

Mar 20, 2017, 8:03 PM

1. That was just Dabo's second year.
2.He just lost all of his offensive firepower after making a run to the ACCCG his first year
3. We all knew that season that help was coming in recruiting

The feeling of the two programs were completely different and the fan base was still behind dabo. Apples and oranges my friend.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And he still fired Napier and brought in Morris

Mar 20, 2017, 8:27 PM

Dabo has always been decisive in moving in another direction when things aren't working. Did it with Steele a year later. Did it when he brought on Mike Reed
