0-0 until 8 minutes left. Bamburg scored on a punt return, then the A put together a drive and scored. Bamburg fumbled the ensuing kick off making it easy work for the Panthers to go up 7. Bamburg stalled out to end the game.

Abbeville is a machine!

as ric flair told a female heckler one night- "you can't be the first but you can be next." i played on the FIRST abbeville champ team, way back in 71. we were AAA then, by the way. unbelievable team. only 25 guys on the team. at out last reunion, 24 were still alive and 23 made it back. have lost 2 since then, including arguably the greatest athlete in abbeville history, larry ray.

I’m a little young for the ‘71 game (well a lot young) but I was a the ‘91 game as a kid. I remember the legend of ‘71 ‘81 ‘91. Was able to play in the ‘00 game that we lost. Coach Nick has been impressive. Won 5 titles in 10 years or so. He also played on the ‘81 team.

as a side note, the 71 abbeville team beat pageland central, led by a pretty good OL named robbie caldwell, for the championship
