How many "tombstones" total in Dabos career?

Nov 9, 2024, 2:40 PM

I'm not sure the exact year the tombstone idea was implemented, but how many "tombstone" wins has Dabo had for Clemson since he took over as interim in 2008 and against which teams? Also, how many ranked wins at home? Win % vs ranked teams?

TIA

That's a lot of research you're asking people to do

Nov 9, 2017, 2:31 PM

Why not just send a fax to Tim Bourret and ask him?

Not sure of the percentage and overall ranked wins, but I counted the other night and Dabo has 15 tombstones

Need to add 2014 Oklahoma, they were ranked in the USA today poll at the time,

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Yup, I got 15 tombstones as well with records as follows:

Nov 9, 2017, 3:56 PM

Home: 8-5 (.615)
Road: 6-9 (.400)
Neutral: 9-3 (.750)
Overall: 23-17 (.575)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wondered about that one.

Nov 9, 2017, 4:05 PM [ in reply to Re: 14 ]

Saw they were unranked on the screen scoreboard and left it out. And lol at TigerPrince's TD on my original post.

You were missing 2008 at No. 24 FSU

Nov 9, 2017, 4:08 PM

We lost 27-41 in one of Dabo's first games as head coach.

I did not include Oklahoma, but argument could be made to add them as well.

Why would I count a loss?***

My apologies, total brain fart

Nov 9, 2017, 4:19 PM

Yes, Oklahoma was included based on their coaches poll ranking, I believe.

If you're going to the game this weekend

Nov 9, 2017, 4:12 PM [ in reply to You were missing 2008 at No. 24 FSU ]

then you can walk over to the actual tombstones and you'll have your answer on this one.

You've got the final score wrong in the 2015 ACCCG... it was 45-37 Clemson.

***HERE ARE THE OFFICIAL RECORDS***

Nov 9, 2017, 3:50 PM

Keep in mind, these are taking into account the teams being ranked when we played them, not whether they were ranked at end of year.

Home: 8-5
Road: 6-9
Neutral: 9-3
Overall: 23-17

Not too shabby.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So in other words, 15 tombstones and .575 winning %

Nov 9, 2017, 3:53 PM

Overall vs ranked teams and .555 winning % in potential tombstone games.

I remember when a tombstone was a huge deal. I mean crazy talk.

I love the tradition, I never want it to stop.

I'm just waiting for IPTAY to ask for more of my money so we can build a mausoleum due to recent space constraints.

Surely we could take a football parking lot for tombstones and justify a larger contribution from donors.

For those good at the maths, this is how we keep the machine cranking.

So before you get upset, just know that one day you could donate enough to park in the "Tombstone Lot"...

If that's not something to strive for, I don't know what is.

The @CtLiEgMeSrOsN® Tombstone Lot.

It does have a ring to it...
