The coaches are struggling to find a reliable short passing game

Sep 28, 2019, 7:41 PM

They really miss Renfrow. They haven’t found anyone or any combination of people who can extend drives like he did.

That’s the main problem compared to last year as I see it.

I think this can be solved but the coaches haven’t done it yet. Renfrow seemed like a fixture. We’ve forgotten how to make it work without him.

We have a stable of receivers. It isn't that hard.***

I think schematically we may have come to depend on what he brought

He had a different skill set from current guys.

You are right it should be doable but it hasn’t happened yet.

I agree with you. We have a stable of boundary receivers but haven’t found anyone yet for the slot.

I've been saying the same thing. We have no crisp, fast, route running receivers that I can see. They're all tall, lanky jump ball type receivers.

Would like to see more Spector but I’m not

At practice - I know he caught grief for the drop against GT but I think he’s going to be a good one and could be part of the answer - also chalk did well and Trevor need to look for him more - overall not using the middle which is weird when they are sending pressure up the gut

They are there. Just wait. Being #1 at the end is what matters. Getting a little too greedy early.

I definitely don’t mean to be negative

Sep 28, 2019, 7:55 PM

It’s just an observation. I think we should be able to find a solution. We just haven’t yet.

it wasn’t the receivers..we had 10 batted balls at the los

TL, got to have a better touch.

10?

Sep 28, 2019, 8:07 PM

I counted 4 pass deflections in stats. I think some of that is going happen at los.

You are right that there’s room for improvement everywhere.
