1 good reason to expand the playoff.

Dec 3, 2018, 7:51 AM

No bowls matter anymore other than the playoff bowls. Stud NFL prospects won't waste their time playing in bowls other than the playoff bowls.

I say let the redshirts play to take their place***

The new rule does that.***

Even if they've played in 4 games already?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course not. But, what is a redshirt if you play in all

of the games? 4 games seems like an manageable tool to help cover for someone who doesn't want to play in 1 game at the end of the year.

Your analysis is silly at best. This is the same system we always had with a plus 1 game at the end. The other bowls never meant anything but guys use to care about more than themselves so they played in the bowl.

And what about those players who aren't NFL Stud prospects who might get to see some extra playing time. Don't they count for something? Besides, the Bowl games are still a money-making proposition.

True, but we watch college football to see the studs and the teams that played all year and not somewhat different teams in the bowl. I agree that for the random backup it is nice to get to get start.

You may watch it to see the studs, but I watch because I love college football, and while it's true I still watch the NFL, if you told me I could watch only one, I would choose College.

Yeah me too, but I know watching a college football game with Murray from the Sooners is way better than watching with whoever his backup is. The Deshaun Watson's and people like that make the games way way better. It also changes the entire matchup and intensity if they don't play.

At the end of the day you're talking about what, 3-5 guys, maybe 10 at the most sitting out games between like 30 games overall?

Good point.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All it would take for it to stop is for a couple of NFL coac

Dec 3, 2018, 8:14 AM

to mention that they really don’t want players that quit on their team when they can’t win it all.

Won’t happen but would be a nice gesture.
