Before you buy tickets to the Orange Bowl, consider this....

If the rankings remain the way they are now, Clemson will play Iowa in Dallas and Oklahoma and Alabama will play in Miami. No way Oklahoma would be sent to Dallas as that would virtually be a home game for them and an unfair advantage for them.

that the second seed gets travel advantage too. FSU was sent to the west coast last year because they thought Winston might beat Bama. ESPiN certainly played their part in this.

They can only geographically do so much with just two games. Clemson will get Orange if #1.

Dallas is just as close as Miami. Clemson has been to Miami 2 times in the last 4 years so why not go to Dallas & play in the Cowboys stadium on New Years Eve. I thought No. 1 team gets to choose their playoff destination, Miami or Dallas.

Well, if we win and remain #1, the committee places the higher ranked team n the closest geographical site. So, with that Clemson would be in the Orange bowl and even if we aren't #1, if Alabama, Oklahoma and the Big12 participants wil all be geographically closer to Dallas. Orange Bowl is ours.

No such thing as sold out my man. You can always get a ticket to anything.
Just wanted to make that correction.

When assigning teams to sites, the committee will place the top two seeds at the most advantageous sites, weighing criteria such as convenience of travel for its fans, home-crowd advantage or disadvantage and general familiarity with the host city and its stadium. Preference will go to the No. 1 seed.

Read Clemsonphi. He has it right, but yes, the committee probably could put any team anywhere, but they will favor our fanbase and our region of the country, unless we get jumped in the rankings. If we win, I still bet we are in the Orange Bowl.

Not that it means anything, if the Clemson players had their choice they would choose Dallas since it would be a new venue for everyone. They have played in Miami in 2013(Jan 1, 2014) and 2015.

Oklahoma is 4 hours from Dallas. It is far from a home game. They play Texas there every year while the State Fair is there. Clemson will be in the Orange Bowl playing the Big Ten Champ, which likely will be Michigan State, assuming we can take care of business in Charlotte on Saturday Night.

nearest to home, then we are in the Orange if we win Saturday no matter what.
Clemson at #1 closest to Miami. Bama at #1 closest to Dallas.
Even if the earth falls off its axis and Florida beats Bama, and committee jumps Oklahoma over us, Oklahoma at #1 closest to Dallas.
We win, we are in the Orange Bowl, period.
Now, if #1 gets choice of venue, then I don't put it past the committee to drop us, and Bama takes the Orange just to make us travel a longer way. They are traveling a long way either way.
But, in reality, distance difference between Miami and Dallas is only an additional 139 miles for us, although fan attendance for us would probably be much higher in Miami. That is the real reason I hope we get the Orange Bowl.
