Clemson could add a 5-star prospect on National Signing Day - and then the wait begins.
Jackson Prep (Ms.) running back Jerrion Ealy moved up 19 spots to a 5-star ranking in 247Sports' final evaluation on Tuesday, at No. 26 overall. The caveat for Ealy is first-round projections on the baseball side that provide an offer that could be tough to turn down in June (June 3 is the first round date). "This could be the second straight year we have a 5-star prospect who doesn't even play college football," 247Sports analyst Barton Simmons said. "Jordyn Adams last year signed with North Carolina and got drafted in the first round. Jerrion Ealy, if he plays - and Clemson is the favorite to land him now - if Jerrion Ealy plays next year, he will be one of the best backs in college football. "He really flashed at the Under Armour All-American Game. He's a guy that's got outstanding physicality for a smaller guy. Tested well. 4.5 40 legit. And also has been really productive in Mississippi." Ealy rushed for 1,526 yards and 24 scores and also led his team in receiving yards last season (398). He rushed for 116 yards in the Under Armour game. Ealy could potentially sign and still play college football but he is undecided on that future as of now. "I have no idea what I'm going to do, and all options are on the table right now," Ealy told ESPN this week. "As we get closer to the draft in June, the further I get to narrowing down the options and figuring out which option I want to take." Ealy made his official visit to Clemson while the Tigers were celebrating a national championship on Jan. 12.
