ESPN analyst doesn't have Clemson in top five |
ESPN analysts Joey Galloway and Jim Mora broke down their top five for the College Football Playoff late on Saturday night.
Mora had a wacky top five of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Stanford. Obviously, he left out a talented Clemson team in his rankings. "They didn't make it (Clemson)," Mora said. "Well, it's easy to talk about Alabama at number one, OK? They're the best team in the country. I'm going to tell you why I didn't put Clemson in the top five, OK? I'm not certain that their quarterback situation is settled. If they decided to go with a freshman, I don't know if they can get in the top four or even the top five." The above comments were a little confusing and somewhat contradictory since earlier in the show he said that Trevor Lawrence was a special talent and will continue to improve. "I like (Kelly) Bryant, but this Lawrence kid is special," he said. "The throw that he made going to his left throwing toward the pylon is a special throw. That’s not a take-for-granted type of throw. He is a very, very, very talented young man. I think the more he plays - obviously the better he will get." I can imagine that Mora hasn't watched hardly any game tape of Clemson and just wingin' it on the air similar to his last two years coaching at UCLA. Galloway had a top five of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Kelly Bryant started for Clemson, but Saturday’s win was driven by Trevor Lawrence.
