Maters

How are yalls veggie gardens doing?
My yard is shade so grow maters on the dock in pots. That is not ideal, but I always get more than we can eat.
I planted the first day of Spring, so about 4 weeks now.
Mine are looking GREAT!!, need to stock in more Dukes.
I am into a new system of watering from the bottom instead of the top this year. Time will tell.

Love the setup, never see one quite like that. It doesn't get much better than Dukes on fresh maters.

Cage is new for this year. I think it will be good. I wanted sturdy but light weight so used pvc which is easy like playing with tinker toys (and cheap). I am sure some remember Tinker Toys. Now people believe kids will swallow the wheels or stab their siblings so not sure if Tinker Toys are still around.

I can add more cross braces to support the vines as needed. I have a 30gallon tub of water on a timer to add water as maters prefer constant moisture as opposed to wet/dry. Solar panels pump the water from the lake, so water is free and endless.
I may get no maters, but I do get a lot of entertainment trying.

I cut garden stakes you can buy at HD or Lowes cheap. I use joints you can get on Amazon.

I have a similar setup. Do you use the lake to water the plants. I do. Love the cage

I have solar panels. I have set up a 30 gallon tub on a timer to keep the maters watered. Lake water is good, free and endless.

What part of the lake are you on?
(I think I can just fit that whole contraption on my catamaran! . . . And thanks!)

I am up the Tugaloo around marker 92.
Theft has not been much of a problem in my decades here.
I will build you one for free, no need to take mine.

far enough from the lake that boaters can't pick them before I decide they are ripe enough. Those fisher dudes around here work up a good hunger real fast.
