I keep reading articles that keep saying the #3 Clemson Tigers? We just beat the #2 team so why are we still referred to as #3. At the end of this game we will be ranked #1 or #2 depending if we win or not.

I know how the seeds work, but I even saw where it said we were the 3rd ranked team in the nation not 3 ranked seed in the playoff.

Yes, the final rankings determined the seeds. The seeds and rankings are fixed thru the playoffs. I believe they do a final re-rank at the conclusion of the playoffs, but otherwise it’s correct.

It’s a playoff system. You keep your seed no matter what. The next poll you’ll see will be in the spring.....the “way too early college football rankings “

Some of the way to early polls will be out before the end of the season polls. Expect to Clemson #1 in both.

Just in case you are being serious, do teams assume the higher seed of the team they upset during March Madness?

Teams are seeded in a playoff or tournament, not ranked.

I get what you’re saying. When you’re in the FINAL GAME with ONLY TWO TEAMS left....it just seems STUPID TO SAY #1 vs #3!

But when it comes to PEOPLE WHO SAY STUPID STUFF, you have to admit, SPORTS MEDIA IS #1.
