Does tyshon dye remind anyone else of todd gurley? excited

Jan 14, 2013, 12:35 PM

about this one, seems like the power back we have been missing for so long now.

he does, but Gurley was more higly rated out of HS

Jan 14, 2013, 12:49 PM

Think Gurley was a top 50 type prospect, while Dye is around 200. Doesn't mean Dye won't be a beast, though.

Gurley wasn't that highly rated until after the all-star games. Dye didn't get that opportunity this year, but he could easily have the same output in the future.

Nah Gurley wan't highly rated

80 grade vs 84 grade on ESPN. Dye would have played in the UA Game if it weren't for his injury. Gurley played in the Shrine game and that's it, but was obviously WAY underrated.

Rivals had Gurley as the #42 player in the country

surprised there was such a big difference in their evaluations.

yet to see a power back

Jan 14, 2013, 1:40 PM

The closest thing we've had to a "power back" since James Davis is probably Rod McDowell. Zac Brooks isn't, DJ Howard isn't, and Gallman/Dye won't be one either. They are recruiting more of the same "speedy" RBs as they always have which in my opinion are inferior to the power backs.

Any reason Dye won't be a power back or are you just saying whatever pops into your head?

I've seen his videos

First of all, he's too tall and lanky. His body type doesn't match that of the typical power back.

Also, watch his videos. He runs between tackles well, but doesn't finish if he can't make the gap.

He reminds me of

Marion Barber. They have similar running styles
