Not a hair's bit of difference between Dems and Republicans

Feb 21, 2016, 8:17 AM

and that's why Trump is resonating. Career politicians are so full of $hit and do absolutely nothing except enough to get re-elected without offending anyone. Great example is Gowdy. He was hellbent to get Hilary and told us he would not back down. Once hearing started, he tucked his tail like a b!tch and never heard from again. I guess Clinton machine got to him or paid him off.

That's why Trump is winning. He is not part of the same establishment that defines all of the other career politicians that are running. I don't agree with everything he says and his mouth needs to be reeled in sometimes but I would like to see if he can shake things up unlike the pencil-neck, gutless wonders that have dominated over the last 30 years. If he wins election and doesn't shake it up then he will be a 1-termer.

^^ +1 - good post. I simply do not see why so many cannot see that.

To add just a little to that. Did anyone notice how that after Bush dropped out of the race, that Cruz and Rubio were kissing his ### like he was the second coming. All in hopes of grabbing the Bush votes from this point forward. That was a display of politicians at their best - doing what they do - spew BS until you puke. Personally, I hope those Bush voters recognize that and steer clear of those 2 and their BS.

I'd say Dems are in a bigger panic than Repubs at this point

Feb 21, 2016, 1:46 PM [ in reply to Re: Not a hair's bit of difference between Dems and Republicans ]

Even in a three man race, there are enough anti- Trump votes to beat Trump. Clinton is in a neck and neck race with an extremist who would lose the general election by 30 percent. And there aren't any other candidates who can quit and give Hillary their votes, either.

Reasons to Vote for Donald J. Trump:

Feb 21, 2016, 9:06 AM

Not sure this thread is appropriate here, they should probably delete it, but whatever, I'll bite.

Trump said his liberal sister would make a great supreme court justice. Is that what you want? No more right to bear arms. Unfettered abortions. Great, vote Trump.

Trump said Bush lied and deliberately tricked the country into a war in Iraq. Now I won't disagree with you if you argue the Iraq was the wrong call, but if you tell me Bush intentionally tricked America, you're a conspiracy wacko!

If are a nationalist and not a conservative, maybe that's a reason to vote Trump. If you want to tariff the hell out of BMW because their CEO sits in Germany and you want to force people to buy (inferior) American cars, vote Trump. But remember, BMW is actually out of Greenville now too, so who are you really hurting? You're hurting all consumers who are paying more and you're hurting Greenville. Oh, want to tariff Mercedes and Porsche? They're out of Atlanta. Tariffs are proven bag economics.

Finally, want to utterly wipe out ISIS. Then elect someone with 0 foreign policy experience instead of someone who serves on the foreign intelligence committee (Rubio). That makes a lot of sense... Vote Trump!

Trump believes in the 2nd Amendment....

Feb 21, 2016, 9:12 AM

The problem I have with both the Dems and Reps is they say one thing and do another. Lobbyists are in their pockets. There is not a dime worth of difference. It's time to try a business man like Trump who knows how to get things done. We have put career politicians in Washington for all these decades. How's that been working for you?

Re: Trump believes in the 2nd Amendment....

Feb 21, 2016, 3:39 PM [ in reply to Trump believes in the 2nd Amendment.... ]

That's bc the system is broken and should be overhauled. Any person wanting to be an elected official in our country. There should be a State and Federal law that states no person that has ever had any involvement with a special interest or lobbyist groups involving State or Federal workings of any kind. Those persons should be ban from ever serving in State or Federal offices or positions. If proof is ever brought forward that an elected or appointed official has in past or present had any involvement with anyone in special interest or their lobbyist. They should be fined $5K, or jail for a period of one year, or both. Special interest and the lobbyist is one of the biggest reasons public service people don't give a ### about doing their work they have promised the people they wold if elected. And it's bc special interest groups pays a lot more, and our public service folks are selling the people out to serve the special interest people that can and will cost and hurt the people the most. The people that are suppose to be serving the people, they will lie, cheat, steal, and in some cases will even kill to get our votes so that they can be the one that sells us out to the special interest people. What "most" of the people don't understand, and that is that public service officials don't make a lot of money at all. The big pay comes in after they have sold us out to the special interest highest bidder!!! Dabo makes more money a year than the President, vice president, and the Secretary of the United States combining all their pay together. If we want a public servant that wants those jobs to actually try and help the people. Take the special interest folks out and a long way away, and stand guard on them and make sure they can't get to our public service people. America will be a totally run government that will do for the people. This countries biggest problem is big money running our county.

Ummmm, very well? We live in the best economy and have the easiest lives of any people that have ever come before us.

For the vast majority of us, our biggest concerns are when our iPhone runs out of battery or we get a flat tire.

But by all means we can try an isolationist economy and see how that works out. After all tis been working great for Venezuela hasn't it?

There is much to be disliked about Trump but his stance on the TPP is dead-on. He is against it because it will cost the US jobs just like NAFTA did.

He also mentioned something about the US negotiating with big pharm to lower the cost of drugs like other countries to effectively.

Also, love him or hate him, he's not beholden to Wall Street like ALL the rest.

IMO Trump appeals to those with a strong victim mentality...

Feb 21, 2016, 10:59 AM

it's his MO and as the media superstar that he is he's milking it for all it's worth. I don't believe though that as the field narrows that he'll see much, or any, significant gains. Debates will become more substantive with fewer candidates, and his bombastic and caustic rhetoric and approach won't be enough.

The guy has flip-flopped on every major issue under the sun over his career - including just the last decade. How can someone trust where he'll be in a few years? Especially if he were to be handed the power of the Presidency? Having a megalomaniac such as this in that position is great cause for concern.

I agree that there's little difference between the two parties. The most important thing that we can do as citizens is push for an amendment forcing legislative term limits to help cull our legislature of career politicians - the scourge of democracy.

Re: IMO Trump appeals to those with a strong victim mentality...

Feb 21, 2016, 1:33 PM [ in reply to IMO Trump appeals to those with a strong victim mentality... ]

You're right, Trump won't pick up any votes from the ones dropping out. According to polls almost 60% of Republicans say they would never vote for him. I'm one of those.

Trump was a liberal democrat until a few years ago. There's nothing wrong with changing your opinion on certain issues as you mature, but you'll never convince me that a 69 year old man all of a sudden realized he had been wrong on nearly every issue.

But he's still liberal on a few things. He favors massive tax increases and government paid healthcare for everyone. Just imagine, we'll all be getting the same high quality healthcare offered by the VA. You'll only have to wait 3-6 months for a doctors appointment.

According to politifact, literally 40% of everything he's said throughout his campaign has been false. He's full of $hit too, just a different flavor.

And do you realize how much damage could be done in four years? The president isn't a "shake things up" kind of guy. He's not a wedding singer playing an accordion with his feet.

If he gets elected, so far all I've heard about his platform is:

1. Build a wall, make Mexico pay for it
2. Get rid of all the Muslims
3. Bomb the $hit out of the Middle East
4. "We're gonna do great things"
5. "We're gonna win big"

### does that even mean? I'm still waiting for the punchline of this joke. Every other year he's changed his opinion on just about every single facet of the political spectrum.

Even if it were true that Republicans are just like Democrats, it still wouldn't make sense to vote for somebody as ridiculous as Trump.

What might be closer to the truth is that, after 10 years of having either a Democratic president and/ or a Democratic Congress, many Republican voters feel ignored because Republicans haven't been able to do much. When Republicans do compromise to get something done, that's all people like you focus on, as if the great majority of the work Republicans have done in the last 8 years hasn't been to keep Obama from leading us further down the wrong path.
