more, just how good that 2018 defense was. We took for granted that at least one of Bryant, Wilkins, Lawrence, and Ferrell was going to either sack or harass the QB on nearly every single play. That allowed our secondary to look much better than they were. (And they WERE pretty good, as well!)
The frustrating inability to get Book to the ground last night was the difference in the game. He exhibited tremendous presence in the pocket, allowing our rush to go past on both sides, before either picking out a receiver, or scrambling for key yards. Davis, Skalski, Jones were sorely missed. Jake Venables plays hard, but he does not bring the physical intimidating presence on the field that Skalski does. And, Tyler Davis in the middle is a rock that does not get moved out of position much.
Even more than Trevor, we need those guys healthy and playing down the stretch, if we are going to regroup and make a legitimate run at this thing.
