FIRST thing you should do is lay eyes on the problem, if possible. And it's certainly possible in this case.

If they go there - they believe that is acknowledging the border surge is actually as issue. (Yes, I know AOC said referring to it as a surge is racist...but what isn't these days?)

Again, if it were the Trump Admin. the nightly news would start off and go for 15 minutes on how incompetent the administration is, how this is an emergency that demands attention, etc. etc.

But since the MSM is in the tank for the dems, we won't hear it. And, again, the echo chamber says all is well...
