Clemson football player arrested on drug charges in Clinton
A Greenwood teen, and current member of the Clemson football team, was arrested on drug charges by Clinton Public Safety in Clinton on Monday.
Kaleb Teshawn Chalmers, 18, of 116 Ashwood Street in Greenwood, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a schedule II controlled substance.
The incident occurred on Monday around 10:15pm on Peachtree Street.
According to the incident report, Chalmers had a quantity of marijuana in the groin area of his shorts and a digital scale in the backseat of his vehicle. While searching his vehicle, officers located five Vyvanse capsules and one Alprazolam pill.
Chalmers was released from the Johnson Detention Center on Tuesday.
Chalmers is listed as a freshman defensive back on the Clemson football team. He was a Shrine Bowl selection in 2014 after playing at Greenwood High School.

Sammy did not have scales in the car. Sammy smoked it sounds like he was a dealer and if true he should be let go.

Just reread the article I didn't see/overlooked that part at first, five vyance capsules and scale definitely scream dealer.

Dude, a college kid having vyvanse or adderall is like them having a pencil. Everyone takes them honestly

You would be very surprised at how many college kids take that stuff. I wouldn't say it's as common as a student having a pencil but i would say at least 60-70% of college students do take either adderall or vyvanse.

Heck if you were in your 40's you would know smokers have their own scales to make sure they are getting what they paid for. And if you were 23 you would know the average person in your age range pops the kind of pills Chalmers got busted with all the time. Either your 50+ or you haven't done any kind of partying your whole life. Because even if you don't use, you pick up on this stuff by going to parties and hanging the fellow people in your age range.

Just because he had scales does not mean he is a dealer. You can buy scales at most Indian stores. Weed is 20 dollars a gram these days most of these kids like to weigh what they buy. So they don't get chited. It's messed up he is doing this crap but let's don't blow it out of proportion

He is just making moronic decisions, no excuses, when I was his age I didn't make mistakes like that. How stupid can you be to make a mistake when you are a 19-20 year old adult. He has had long enough time as adult not to make decisions like this.

Suspend him until the fall. If he fails to meet requirements or hates the idea of suspension, then kick him off. But give him a chance for redemption.

A digital scale? Sounds he like me might be a dealer. Definitely dont need that on this team or in this program. No 2nd chances on this one.

Why would a dealer keep the scales in the car? They don't sit in a car and measure out bags. Like the other guy said, that's a kid who wanted to weigh what he bought.
