Everyone calling out Daba - Watson played with torn ACL

Oct 13, 2017, 8:46 PM

I think you're all over-reacting.

Watson was not nearly as impaired as Kelly was tonight.***

If Kelly couldn't play - HE should have taken himself out

Oct 13, 2017, 8:50 PM

Look - I'm just sorry to see it all play out this way. I'm not saying keeping him in was the best decision, but it's not as criminal as some here are saying. The player tells the coach how he is doing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't blame kelly, for crying out loud. He was just trying

Oct 13, 2017, 8:55 PM

to tough it out and not be a wimp. He WAS able to play, just not very effectively due to his injury. It was very obvious that he was in pain and totally ineffective when he had to run or scramble, and even had a great deal of trouble planting and pushing off of his back foot to throw. This may be the first time I've ever questioned or doubted Dabo.

Watson was mobile***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True but DW was still pretty mobile with his injury. KB

Oct 13, 2017, 8:50 PM

has barely been able to walk at times tonight.

That's different though...

Our coaches are better than this! I'm not a doctor but I play one at home. He was gimpy from the start.

but you never knew until the game was over, and frankly, couldn't tell during the game...this was just preposterous...EVERYBODY called it out!!! i said it before and i'll say it again...this is syracuse...play the back up. win the game

Logic FAIL man. Sorry, but DW4 could move, and KB2 can NOT. A blind man could see that from early in the game when he ran / hobbled to the sideline.

Their D was saying "Let loose the dogs of war" on our O.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

totally different situations....

Oct 13, 2017, 9:04 PM

DW was still very mobile and drs had already determined that the injury would no be any worse if he played.

KB, on the other hand, was not mobile from play one. And his ankle can be injured more by playing on it.

Why all the pressure to never question a coach

Oct 13, 2017, 9:07 PM

Coaches need that pressure and I promise they can handle it. KB should have come out and if he's really hurt Dabo is kicking himself.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the schtick of the regulars here for some reason.

Oct 13, 2017, 9:23 PM

I'll never understand it.

I think you're an idiot if you think Bryant was ready to play.

Re: Everyone calling out Daba - Watson played with torn ACL

Oct 13, 2017, 9:22 PM

It is hard for me to really know what it right or wrong from a football standpoint but just to share my limited perspective, I'm a coach with USA Boxing and based on my view of player/fighter safety, I thought KB should have been pulled some time around the time he pulled up on the failed 3rd and 1 run which was clearly open but KB chose to bail. Half of our USAB certification process is focused on fighter safey but what I manage on a daily basis is different than football as the safety concerns in boxing are a much different level than football. That said, in my humble opinion, Dabo screwed up and put KB at risk. It may come at a significant cost as well. The DW4 ACL comparison is apples to oranges.

And with that, I haven't posted in years and will likely keep my mouth shut for another few years but this topic means something to me. Coaches get teams ready to play. They also keep the kids as safe as they can. Go Tigers!

Of course they play hurt. We all celebrate toughness and love to see it. The point is when a player can't compete or can't defend themselves, they should be pulled for their own good. To me, that's the big issue as it was obvious KB was a sitting duck. Again, that's just my take.
